Seattle Parks and Recreation's Dementia-Friendly Recreation presents an exhibition of paintings inspired by Seattle Japanese Garden and created in the Art in the Park program. A collaborative effort of Dementia-Friendly Recreation and Elderwise, Art in the Park offers time in the garden, a watercolor painting experience, and social connection for people living with memory loss and friends and family.

In this virtual event, you will learn the basic steps in details and the art of the Urasenke style tea ceremony with the footage filmed on a beautiful spring day in the Seattle Japanese Garden in 2021. There will be a live Q&A with Keiko Tanaka, Chief Administrator of Tankokai Seattle Association.

In this virtual event, you will learn the history, basic steps and the art of the Omotesenke style tea ceremony with the footage filmed on a beautiful autumn day in the Seattle Japanese Garden in 2020. There will be a live Q&A with Kyoko.

This Kaleidoscope Series introduces you to the basic techniques and different arrangement styles of Ohara School. A short lecture and demonstration will be followed by a live Q&A with Phyllis.
Join us for an evening of exploring the art of Japanese calligraphy and sumi painging with a Seattle-based Nisei artist, Midori Kono Thiel.
This virtual event introduces you to the art and basic techniques used in the traditional Japanese calligraphy and sumi-e. A short lecture and demonstration will be followed by a live Q&A with Midori.
Fall is one of the most popular times to visit the Seattle Japanese Garden. In order to prepare the garden for our visitors, our gardeners are busy paying attention to every corner of the garden, especially the maple collection we treasure.
In this webinar, our senior gardener, Pete Putnicki will demonstrate how pruning is done on the signature weeping maple near the garden entrance.

An evening of exploring the world of Butoh with DAIPANbutoh Collective offered by the Seattle Japanese Garden. This virtual event introduces you to the art and history of Butoh in Japan, Seattle, and the Seattle Japanese Garden.
