About:
In partnership with Youth in Focus, the Seattle Japanese Garden is pleased to host our 5th annual youth photography workshops in the Garden. Student photographers from grades 8 through 12, are invited to come and learn about the Japanese stroll garden, tea ceremony and how to create inspiring images for our community.
With a professional photography instructor from Youth in Focus, you will expand your knowledge of operating DSLR cameras, photo composition and storytelling through taking photographs in the Garden.
At the end of the workshop, you will submit one picture to be printed and framed. Your framed print will be showcased in the Tateuchi Community Room at the Seattle Japanese Garden for the months of May and June.
Qualification to attend:
You are a student from Grade 8 through Grade 12
You have a love of and are interested in photography
You want to learn about Japanese garden and culture
The workshop includes:
Admission to the Garden
Tea ceremony demonstration by a Seattle based tea practitioner
Guided tour by our volunteer guide
A camera will be provided for use by the Youth in Focus
The link to download your digital images
One framed print will be created after the workshop for a summer exhibition at our community room in the garden
Tuition:
The tuition is a $20 suggested donation. We appreciate you paying what you can.
