Kogut Butoh Dance at the Seattle Japanese Garden
For the August Free First Thursday, Wandering & Wondering brings its unique presence to the Summer Seattle Japanese Garden! Throughout the three-hour annual event, you will encounter dancers and musicians dispersed in surprising locations in the garden. The performers’ movements are inspired by all the sights, smells, and sounds they encounter in the garden, and in observing them, you will experience a heightened awareness of the environment you are immersed in.
Wandering & Wondering is directed by Joan Laage/Kogut Butoh.
Throughout the event guests will also have the opportunity to join in folding paper cranes in the Tateuchi Community Room. These cranes will be used as part of an arrangement to be displayed during our August Family Saturday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and the continued need for peace and disarmament globally.
Entry to the garden is free the whole day from noon to closing for Free First Thursday.
Supported in part by 4Culture.
Final entry to the garden is 45 minutes before closing.
