Full Kaleidoscope Series Now Available on YouTube!

Thank you for those of you who attended our Kaleidoscope virtual series!

Kaleidoscope, sponsored by the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership, was created to engage with a virtual audience and offer educational content on Japanese gardens and Japanese culture during the Covid-19 pandemic, when access to the physical garden is limited and our usual calendar of interactive cultural events has been cancelled.

The third webinar in the series was “Art of Sumi” with Midori Kono Thiel. Midori introduced us to the art and basic techniques used in the traditional Japanese calligraphy and sumi-e. A short lecture and demonstration was followed by a live Q&A with Midori.

The fourth in the series was an introduction to the Ohara School of Ikebana by Phyllis Danielson. Phyllis’ demonstration showed different arrangement styles, concepts and techniques used for Ohara School. The YouTube video below will share the great questions and answers we received during Q&A.

We would like to thank the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership for their support in creating the opportunity to connect with our community during this challenging time, and for our audience for their support for the garden!
