Free First Thursday: Wandering and Wondering

Kogut Butoh Dance at the Seattle Japanese Garden

For the August Free First Thursday, Wandering & Wondering brings its unique presence to the Summer Seattle Japanese Garden! Throughout the three-hour annual event, you will encounter dancers and musicians dispersed in surprising locations in the garden. The performers’ movements are inspired by all the sights, smells, and sounds they encounter in the garden, and in observing them, you will experience a heightened awareness of the environment you are immersed in.

Wandering & Wondering is directed by Joan Laage/Kogut Butoh.

This year’s dancers are Sheri Brown, Bruce Fogg, Joan Laage, Kaoru Okumura, Alycia Scott, Robyn Bjornson, Shoko Zama, Melia Dodge and Hana Shiozaki with music by Michael Shannon, Joey Largent, Stephanie Woods and David Stanford.

On Free First Thursdays, garden admission is FREE all day.
